Project Description

CDPH provided 1,100 modular box rooms for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, supporting venue operations across 21 event areas. Delivered primarily through a leasing model, the project provided flexible modular house solutions for approximately 40 types of operational, technical, medical, media, and public-service spaces.

The project included 1,027 leased units and 73 sold units, for a total supply of 1,100 modular box rooms. This large-scale delivery demonstrates CDPH’s capability to provide reliable modular buildings for international events with demanding schedules, diverse functional requirements, and high operational standards.

Supporting 21 Olympic and Paralympic Service Areas

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics required reliable temporary facilities across multiple venues and support locations. CDPH modular box rooms were deployed in 21 areas, including the Shougang Ski Jump venue, Zhangjiakou Olympic Awards Plaza, Capital Indoor Stadium, Wukesong Sports Center, Chaoyang Sports Center, Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Villages, the Main Media Center, the Main Logistics Center, and the Uniform and Accreditation Center.

Rather than serving a single purpose, these modular house units formed a flexible operational-space network for athletes, officials, broadcasters, volunteers, venue operators, and spectators.

About 40 Types of Functional Rooms

Each venue had different requirements for competition operations, athlete services, broadcasting, logistics, safety, hygiene, and visitor management. CDPH supplied modular box rooms configured for approximately 40 functional applications, including:

  • Commentator seating and commentator support areas

  • Athlete medical buildings

  • Timing and scoring rooms

  • Ski waxing rooms

  • Registration centers

  • Finish-area heating rooms

  • Award ceremony offices

  • FIS offices

  • OBS and broadcasting support areas

  • Technical operation centers

  • Volunteer lounges

  • Ticket halls

  • Conference rooms

  • Wheelchair and stroller storage areas

  • Commentator toilets

  • Spectator toilets

  • Disinfection and sterilization areas

  • Changing rooms

  • Security rooms

  • Grandstand warehouses

This broad range of uses highlights the flexibility of a modular house system. Standardized modular box rooms can be configured to create functional spaces for event administration, athlete support, medical response, broadcasting, sanitation, security, logistics, and public services.

Leasing-Based Delivery for Event Infrastructure

This project was primarily implemented as a modular box room leasing business. The leasing model enabled the event to access a large quantity of professional modular facilities while maintaining flexibility throughout the project lifecycle.

The units could be allocated to different venue areas according to operational requirements, helping project teams establish temporary functional spaces efficiently. After the Games, some of the modular box rooms continued to be used for commercial purposes.

This continued use reflects the durability, quality, and reusable value of CDPH modular house products. Instead of being treated as one-time temporary facilities, the units remained valuable assets that could support later commercial and operational needs.

Recognition From Venue Operations Teams

CDPH’s contribution to the Beijing 2022 project was recognized by venue operations teams.

The Shougang Ski Jump venue operations team presented Beijing CDPH International Integrated Housing Co., Ltd. with a commemorative award carrying the message: “Serving the Winter Olympics, Supporting Gold Medals.” The award recognized CDPH’s support for venue operations during the Games.

The Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Organising Committee and the Wukesong Sports Center Venue Operations Team also issued a letter of appreciation to personnel involved in venue infrastructure and accessibility services.

The letter recognized the team’s important contribution to the successful delivery of Beijing 2022. It praised the staff for their dedication, professionalism, responsibility, and willingness to work under demanding conditions. It also acknowledged their role in supporting high-quality competitions, venue services, operational safeguards, and safe event operations.

The letter expressed appreciation for the installation and support personnel who contributed their time and effort to the Winter Olympics. It stated that the Beijing Winter Olympics became more successful because of the people working behind the scenes and extended best wishes for their future work and lives.
